Ashleigh Poteat replied to Kim A. Tolman's discussion HELP! Need to apply 3D texture to clear, smooth acrylic groundrow in the group Technical Direction
"Definitely the glue will give you a good feel for that. I'm just a die hard sculpt-or-coat fan! I think that the coat - or the crystal gel - will probably let you build up a bit more and maintain a certain amount of translucency than the glue…"

Ashleigh Poteat replied to Kim A. Tolman's discussion HELP! Need to apply 3D texture to clear, smooth acrylic groundrow in the group Technical Direction
"Have you ever used Sculpt-or-Coat? It's an artist choice product that is very useful for coating foam, but also really great for doing texture effects. The finish is fairly matte, and will be just a touch opaque."

Ashleigh Poteat replied to AJ Garrigus's discussion Making it Rain Outdoors
"My first thought: is it too late to do a different show?   Without any position to hang anything from, it sounds like sound and lighting might be your best bet."

Ashleigh Poteat replied to Brian's discussion Job seeking
"As suggested, summer stock is a great way to get started with experience and contact in this business. As also stated, it's a bit late for that this year. However, a lot of regional theatres are currently looking for interns for their upcoming…"

Ashleigh Poteat commented on Richelle Thompson's blog post "Commercial" Theatre
"I was about to comment, and saw that Phillip beat me to it: the simple fact is, Shakespeare was - and I would argue, to a degree, still IS - commercial theatre. He was writing for the lowest common denominator, in a lot of instances, but he was able…"

"Jacob,   Thanks for the great, er photo review! This production was last month at the Forestburgh Playhouse, a 60 year old summer stock 90 miles outside of New York City. I was the costume designer for this play, and it was a wonderful…"

Ashleigh Poteat commented on Rich Dionne's blog post Safety First?
"I agree with what you've both said, but I guess my main point was that the culture of "that's the shop's job, that's the shop's fault" is the one I'm trying to point out and discuss. I think that too many…"

Ashleigh Poteat commented on Rich Dionne's blog post Safety First?
"I think another element to this, which you hinted at with your "set designer/director/crazy-fool-who-wants-what" is that the relationship between the Technical Director and the other designers (and sometimes the director) can rapidly…"
