HI. I teach a High School Theatre 3/4 class. We are working on audition materials for college auditions. I'm not able to get the students out of class for the scheduled time of the chat. Is there a place we could look at the chat after it has happened?

hi jacob; just a quick note. a) i was going to post this in general but couldn't figure out where general was. is there a public forum out there that an old luddite like me can't find it? and b) my post concerns the fact that i was about to submit my taxes today when i discovered, much to my surprise, that i had TWO 1099's from two different producers that lumped in additional monies to the fees. on one, for example, i got paid a fee of $1000. but the 1099 said $1,203.75. that's because they added my fee and the money they reimbursed me for my petty cash [$203.75] together. which is WRONG.

the second 1099 reflected not only the fee, but added in the per diem as well. which i think is also wrong, but at this point that's only my opnion. i have to get back to my accountant.

bottom line, this is the time of year for the taxes to be addressed. and everyone should take the time to carefully examine their 1099's and W-2's to make sure the information is right. and if it isn't; NOW is the time to ask for explanations or corrections. NOT the day before you submit your taxes.

all the best,

shelley

Hello Jacob.

I must say this is a great site. Not only for solving one of my biggest problems - I am shy by nature and find myself running a great little theater business...but I don't like marketing (and hence I am not terribly good at it.) Connecting with people that would be interested in and benefit from Newmark Scenic is one of my most difficult tasks.

But also the layout and configuration kicks ass. If the software running this is pre-packaged it rocks. Rarely have I seen this level of custom control of a blog type site. Recently I went to login, but had no bookmarks. Typing in the URL led me to a hosting service park/marketing page, and I got really concerned that theatre face went down. Then I realized I had typed theaterface.com!

Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.

Hi Jacob,
Thanks for making the comment wall available. If anyone has questions about theater mic techniques or microphones, especially stage-floor microphones, I'd be happy to attempt a reply.
